Colin Rand Kaepernick is a former American football quarterback and a civil rights activist. He used to play for the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2016 when he retired.

He was signed up through the NFL draft for 2011 to play for the San Francisco 49ers, and his professional career began from then. Colin retired in 2016 due to the backlash he faced from his team for his political statements.

Interestingly, Colin’s biological parents neglected him when he was born and were put up for adoption when he was only five weeks old.

His birth mother, Heidi Russo, separated from his birth father even before birth. Fortunately, Colin was adopted by Teresa and Rick Kaepernick into their family.

Teresa and Rick were initially parents to two kids, a son and daughter, and had just lost two of their sons to congenital heart disease when they decided to adopt Colin. The two have allegedly been married for more than three decades.

Teresa Kaepernick is a licensed professional nurse and famously known as the adoptive mother of Colin Kaepernick. Her birth details have not been released to the public, but she is assumedly in her early 60s.

Teresa has an American nationality and white ethnic background. She is married to the love of her life, Rick, and they were blessed with four children but unfortunately lost two sons at birth.

Teresa and her husband decided to adopt Colin in 1987 as part of their family and strived to ensure that he fits in perfectly and gets the support he needed.

The whole family relocated to Turlock, California, when Colin was four years old, and this is where he was brought up in.

Teresa has done an excellent job supporting Colin and raising him to what he is despite the racial difference, and Colin shows gratitude to them for this.

Rick Kaepernick is a former employee who worked at Hilmar Cheese Company as the operations manager and is Colin’s adopted father.

Similarly, his birth details have not been revealed to the public, but he seems to be in his 60s. Rick is married to Teresa, and they have a beautiful family which became of mixed race after they adopted Colin in 1987.

Rick has equally shown his love and support to Colin in his upbringing. He regularly advises Colin to always focus on his goals and do whatever he wants to in life.

Once in an interview, Rick joked about Colin’s income as a football player, stating that it was not as much as his. But generally, he is a huge fan of Colin and supports him in every way possible.

Colin was the only child born to his biological mother. However, he has two older siblings, a brother, and a sister, in his new adoptive family. Their names are Kyle, and Devon Kaepernick, respectively, and both of them are married and have their own families.
